{"id":11,"date":"2012-09-03T01:41:21","date_gmt":"2012-09-03T06:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/danvanfleet.com\/?p=11"},"modified":"2014-04-09T20:47:53","modified_gmt":"2014-04-10T01:47:53","slug":"meta-tags-google-uses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danvanfleet.com\/index.php\/meta-tags-google-uses\/","title":{"rendered":"Meta Tags Google uses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Have you ever wondered about how Google index pages.\u00a0 They don&#8221;t use &lt;META&gt; tags as much as they used to.<\/p>\n<p>&lt;meta name=&#8221;robots&#8221; content=&#8221;index, follow&#8221; &lt;-Default behaviour-&gt;<\/p>\n<p>Google understands the following values (when specifying multiple values, separate them with a comma):\u00a0 Use name=&#8221;googlebot&#8221; to only effect Google and not other search engines.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/bin\/answer.py?answer=61050\">noindex<\/a>: prevents the page from being indexed<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/bin\/answer.py?answer=96569\">nofollow<\/a>: prevents the Googlebot from following links from this page<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/bin\/answer.py?answer=35304\">nosnippet<\/a>: prevents a snippet from being shown in the search results<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/bin\/answer.py?answer=35264\">noodp<\/a>: prevents the alternative description from the ODP\/DMOZ from being used<\/li>\n<li>noarchive: prevents Google from showing the <strong>Cached<\/strong> link for a page.<\/li>\n<li>unavailable_after:[date]: lets you specify the exact time and date you want to stop crawling and indexing of this page<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/bin\/answer.py?answer=61050\">noimageindex<\/a>: lets you specify that you do not want your page to appear as the referring page for an image that appears in Google search results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can now also specify this information in the header of your pages using the &#8220;X-Robots-Tag&#8221; HTTP header directive.
