Using the normal ProForm interface is the most common. We can&#8217;t use the asterisk (*) filtering where * is used as a match all filter since the update would put that in the Code field. There is another solution which can also be used to pull a lookup record.<\/p>\n<p>When the Lookup table window displays, begin typing the Lookup Code, the list will rapidly follow along selecting rows as letters are typed.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image0021.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"413\" height=\"188\" title=\"clip_image002\" align=\"left\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px 5px 0px; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"clip_image002\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image002_thumb1.png?resize=413%2C188\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For example on this Real Estate Agents\/Brokers Screen where the lookup entry was pulled by simply typing the correct Agent\/Broker Look-up Code and tabbing out of the field. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s add a NMLS number.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image0021.png\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image0031.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"495\" height=\"340\" title=\"clip_image003\" align=\"left\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px 5px 0px; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"clip_image003\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image003_thumb1.png?resize=495%2C340\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the Agent Name <strong>NMLS#<\/strong> Field a number is entered. <\/p>\n<p>Then the lookup table was brought up by clicking in the Code field and pressing F9<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If your lookup table looks like this one without a Code for every record, you are missing out on a valuable feature.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image0041.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"478\" height=\"298\" title=\"clip_image004\" align=\"left\" style=\"margin: 5px 10px 10px 0px; float: left; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"clip_image004\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/danvanfleet.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/clip_image004_thumb1.png?resize=478%2C298\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After pressing F9 the first column match text can be typed. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For this example as I began typing the code I had a match in 3 characters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Clicking Replace Entry will update the record.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How codes are designed change how this feature feels to a user.&nbsp; I tend to like Name Address combinations, some people use an incremental number.&nbsp; I find that method to provide a difficult user interface.<\/p>\n<p>ProTip: if only one entry is typically used in a lookup table, that entry should always be the top most entry in the table.&nbsp; That allows users to press F9 &lt;Enter&gt; as fast as they possibly can, ProForm will select the first entry in the list as fast as it possibly can.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are a number of methods to update lookup tables in SoftPro ProForm Classic 15 and 20.
