Through an interesting twist of fate the CFPB has issued an order against a land development company due to poor road conditions. There are water problems that is preventing the county from accepting the roads. The developer stated they would keep up the roads until the county took them over. They didn’t maintain the roads, the CFPB said they should, and they are.
International Land Consultants, Inc. and four named individuals developed and sold lots in Hawks Bluff between about 2004 and 2008. In marketing materials and HUD registered Property Reports they said they would maintain the roads until they were accepted by Van Buren County, Tennessee. In fact, the roads have not been maintained, and have not been accepted by the county.
In 2012 the Tennessee Environmental and Conservation department prepared a corrective action for violations of a Water Quality Control Act caused by the roads in the development.Engineering reports are underway on the roadways to identify necessary repairs.
That’s some serious oversight. Here’s a link to the order and the announcement on the CFPB’s site
