With some of the recent releases of ProForm Classic, the Word merge macro file spwinmrg.dot is removed along with other unnecessary files from the SoftPro Share. For the most part it's a welcome change as there were many files in the shared folder that were unnecessary and confusing to technical staff.
A problem comes in when attempting to add macros to normal.dot because, the macro files is now installed under the Client executable folder in the Program Files tree.
Windows causes that folder to be read only. Running Word as an administrator would likely allow macros to be installed, we prefer to copy the spwinmrg.dot file from the Client folder to the SoftPro Share\Tools folder. You could put it back in the root, but it belongs better in \Tools.
You could also change the permissions the operating system suggests and enforces using Windows Explorer. Windows protects this information for a reason, an application should live within those constraints. I'd recommend not circumventing security built by Microsoft unless absolutely necessary.
Remember the new client installer saves a log file in %temp% which is a quite handy troubleshooting aid.
