SoftPro 360 Security Error

SoftPro 360 displays an error "Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy." in System.Security.Permissions.SecurityPermission, mscorlib. This issue with Roaming Profiles can be solved by creating a SoftPro360.config file in the SoftPro Client Folder

imageThe message that displays looks like this

SoftPro 360 has 2 different types of applets, PEX based, and embedded UI, where the latter overtook the former.  PEX based applets continue to work, only embedded UI applets have this problem. Said another way, original 360 applications work fine, newer one's need this file if roaming profiles are used.

With the most recent update of 360 (3-11-2013) rather than this error showing up, nothing happens when embedded UI applets are run (Support Ticket is an embedded UI applet) on networks with roaming profiles.  (Ok not really nothing a progress bar shows up for a little bit) The same fix applies, create a SoftPro360.config file.

The SoftPro client folder tends to be %Program Files%\Softpro, or %Program Files%\SoftproFlavor (Enterprise or Standard)\Client folder.

Create a file named SoftPro360.config with the following settings

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
  <appSettings>

    <!-- Values can be: LocalAppData | RoamingAppData -->
    <add key="CacheStorage" value="LocalAppData" />

  </appSettings>
</configuration>

Save it, restart ProForm and 360 should startup, ask for your password, download it's applets, then be ready to go.  It would appear to me that if this user roams to another machine, the applets will need to download again.
