Download Windows Live Writer from Microsoft

Save it and open or run it. The installer is a stub installer and will download the latest Windows Live Writer directly from Microsoft.

I turn off everything except for Writer, you choose what you wish, don't just get stuff because you can, figure out what it does before bringing an application onto your computer.

Click Install

Internet Explorer must be closed

I let it close IE, you may have other programs show up, it's best to close anything that is reported as a conflict. Click Continue

Let it install itself. it will take a bit of time since files need downloaded.  The completed counter doesn't move during downloads.

Make sure you remove the checkmarks when You're Almost Done.

When installing software you must always be alert for this sort of question.  Many times installers will offer to install other junk.  Don't let them have their way with your computer, just say no. Click Continue after turning off the search provider and home page changes.  Help improve if you wish.

It will offer a Windows Live ID sign up screen, Click Close

or sign up if you wish.

Now it's time to Start Windows Live Writer

Click your start button, Go to Programs then Windows Live, and select Writer under that.

The initial Configure Windows Live Writer will show up

Click Next

If you're blogging on my server select Other Blog Service, otherwise you're on your own for this part.

Click Next

Enter the WebAddress, username and password to get into your blog

Click Next

It will process some information and providing the 3 things were correct download files from your site, then allow you to give your blog a local nickname.

Click Finish. and you are ready to use Windows Live Writer.

Write a post and Publish it to see the post on your Blog.  You can open current posts or make new ones.
